Where I Live - Wilburton

I moved to Wilburton in 2002 with my girlfriend, Sandra (now my wife!), having passed through the village on our way to see Ely. We weren't really looking to move house, but saw a sign for a small development of new houses. We liked what we saw, and liked the look of the village, and we were able to persuade the developer that we were serious in our intent to buy. And a few months later we moved in.

Having grown up in a village, moving back to one in my mid-30s wasn't such a strange idea. I'd lived in cities around the country, but Wilburton is one of the few places I have lived which has a good community spirit.

We decided that if we lived in a village, we'd get involved. Having only one pub actually helped - as this is the main meeting point - and we soon got our faces recognised (i.e. we visited the pub alot!). It wasn't long until we were joining in with some of the villages popular events - namely the beer festival and the fireworks. It's hard work, but well worth it - and we hope that they can continue to be popular and enjoyable events (and of course continue to raise a lot of money for charities and local organisations).

And one day, I'll get the Wilburton Website finished!
